Georgian Bay Kayak Day Trips

Explore the 30,000 Islands from our scenic base camp near Snug Harbour

  • 149 Canadian dollars
  • Fitzgerald Beach, Carling, Ontario

Description

Join local guide Emara Streich on a Georgian Bay kayak day trip this summer! Your day will begin at 10am at our waterfront base camp in Carling (near Snug Harbour), where we launch from a scenic private beach. You will paddle past the iconic Snug Harbour Lighthouse, through beautiful channels surrounded by striking geological formations, and explore Franklin Island! We will make a few stops throughout the day, taking time to explore on foot, relax, and cool off with a swim in the bay. We will return to base camp by 4pm. Our route lies within the Georgian Bay Biosphere, a UNESCO biosphere recognized for its biodiversity. This breathtaking region is home to several rare species and their habitats. We love kayaking, as it is a low impact sport not only on one’s body, but on the environment. Paddling is truly the best way to explore what Georgian Bay has to offer. Emara studied Adventure Tourism at Fanshawe College and has spent several years promoting sustainable tourism & guiding kayak trips on Georgian Bay. Paddle with her and you will understand her passion for exploring the largest freshwater archipelago in the world, the 30,000 Islands of Georgian Bay. What we provide: • Equipment rentals, including kayak, safety gear, paddles, skirts (unless you inform us that you will be using your own gear) • Expedition First Aid Kit • Communications devices • Dry bags for your personal items • Large tarp (to use in the event of intense sun or rain) What you should bring: • Lunch, snacks, and plenty of water to drink (try to pack everything in reusable containers) • Clothing and shoes that can get wet, as well as change of dry clothes • Closed toed shoes for walking on island • Rain jacket/windbreaker • Towel and bathing suit • Sunscreen, lip balm, hat, sunglasses with tether, buff/bandana • Paddling gloves • Camp chair if desired • Insect repellant (DEET free ideally) • Snorkel gear if you have/wish to use • Phone (and water protective case)/camera for photos! please note: minimum group number of 2 with private sessions available upon request
